I am the LORD, your God,
who grasp your right hand;
It is I who say to you, “Fear not,
I will help you.”
One night Desta ran into the living room. “Mommy, I want to tell you something, but I’m afraid.” Tears ran down her cheeks. “Just tell me, honey, it’s okay,” I said. I took her hand. “No, I’m afraid you will be mad at me.” I tried to guess the trouble—did she break something? No. Did she spill something? No. Did something happen to Binky? Yes. We ran upstairs and found her goldfish lying on the hardwood floor of her bedroom. I scooped him up and put him in his tank. Soon he was swimming again, a little stunned, but alive. When we do something wrong, when we are in trouble, when we are afraid, God will take our hand and rescue us, too.
